The cutest gift ever

This happened a day before I was leaving for US. My niece - Maitreyee - and me were travelling in the car.

Me: Maitreyee, what do you want me to get for you from USA? Chaitanya will soon be visiting you, so I can send the gifts with him.
Maitreyee: मावशी, you have given me so many gifts. I haven't given you anything till now.
Me: (tears in my eyes; trying to somehow hide them from her) ए, how can you say like that? You know, it's the elder people who give gifts to people younger to them. (Trying to come up with some example, in which I failed). Look, do I give gifts to my mom? No!
Maitreyee: But, you do!
Me: Well, now that I have grown up, I have started getting gifts for her. But when I was young, I never did.

After we reached home, she took me to the bedroom. She took out the pen; not "a" pen, but "the" pen that she likes the most. It was "magic" pen that her friend had given to her. When you write something with it, nothing is visible at first. There is a light at the tip of the pen. When you throw that light onto the invisible text, the text suddenly becomes visible. Maitreyee had shown me the magic tricks with that pen very enthusiastically some time earlier. She handed that pen over to me and said "This is the gift that I am giving to you". I was in tears again. I tried to convince her that the pen was much more useful to her and that she should have kept it. But, she wouldn't listen.

That is the cutest gift that I have ever received :-)
