Fulfillment

Just read a sentence on this website "Fulfillment never comes from taking the path of least resistance." How true it is! Once in a while, a thought pops up in my mind - why take the trouble and try to be my best... Instead, I could just live a trouble-free life. I hope I will always be able to abolish such thoughts and try to remember what I want from my life -- satisfaction that I tried to the best of my abilities. And I hope I will always have the courage to take the challenging path, even if it seems dreary. Only the walk along that path can give me the fulfillment that I seek.

Two simple questions

In this movie titled 'The Bucket List', there is a short tale being narrated by one of the characters called Carter to his friend, Edward. The two friends are sitting in front of the pyramids in Egypt, when Carter tells Edward a story. As this Egyptian mythological story goes, when a person is dead and reaches the entry point to the heaven, the guard at the door asks two questions to him/her, the answers to which would decide their entry to the heaven.
1. Have you found joy in your life?
2. Has your life brought joy to others?

Would not life be simpler, if we ask these two questions to ourselves, at the end of day? Or, at least at the end of every year?

P.S. Do watch this movie, if you haven't yet. It will make you think about life and death and what things are really important in life. And in the end, you may want to attempt sky-diving once just like Edward and Carter did :)
